Service Industry & Jobs in the Future

               SERVICE INDUSTRY AND JOBS OF THE FUTURE 

The relevance of the service industry is growing at a fast pace. From new forms of service industries such as online education, destination marriages, counselling (carrier, marriage, personal), yoga instructions, etc. Technological innovations, changing lifestyles, the emergence of spending on themselves, an increase in nuclear families, and disposable incomes could be the prominent reasons for that, especially due to evolving new unmet needs. India’s GDP share from services has increased by over 60% much more than earlier. Despite the lower number of people dependent on it, which is around just 30%. Therefore, jobs in the sector are more skill-oriented and handsomely paid. 



Management and control of services are more difficult than that of manufacturing, due to the factors such as Intangibility, Inseparability, Variability, and Perishability. These factors increase the importance of the service sector. As automation is relatively more difficult in the service industry it makes human beings more indispensable in this industry. With the advent of emerging technologies, jobs will be eliminated especially in the manufacturing sector but jobs that will still remain relevant in the coming future will be like as given below:

Jobs based on soft skills.Jobs that focus on health and fitness such as fitness trainer and Yoga instructors.Occupations such as psychologists, counsellors, rehabilitation counsellors, medical science workers, healthcare practitioners, and biotechnologists will increase. Jobsbased on hard skills.Jobs based on emerging technologies such as AI, Machine learning, evolving technologies experts, and data analysts. As the relevance of information technology is increasing the need for cyber security experts.Dependence on solar, wind, and hydrogen energy is increasing due to the scarcity of resources, therefore, the need for experts in this domain is also raising.

If we talk about the skills then apart from technical skills most important skills required in future will be creativity, social skills, adaptability, and emotional intelligence. As with the increase in the complexity of life, living will be easier for those who are also emotionally strong with technical strength.
